We are seeking an experienced Safety Specialist to join our team in Walbridge, Ohio.  This position supports our commitment to safety excellence by partnering with Field Operations and Management to identify and mitigate safety risks across active and upcoming projects. 

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct regular jobsite safety audits to identify existing and potential hazards
  • Serve as a safety resource by providing technical guidance, coaching and mentoring to field associates
  • Deliver safety training and maintain accurate training records
  • Assist with the development and implementation of safety plans and project orientations
  • Participate in project planning, pre-task, and jobsite meetings to ensure safety risks are identified, communicated, and addressed
  • Assist with incident reporting and investigations
  • Support the development and implementation of corrective actions
  • Assist with ordering, distributing, and maintaining safety equipment and supplies

 

SKILLS:

  • Experience with developing and facilitating safety training
  • Ability to engage, communicate and positively influence others across the entire workforce
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Willingness and ability to travel and work varied shifts and out-of-town assignments as needed.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Candidates should have 3-5 years construction safety experience with the proven ability to identify workable solutions to eliminate hazards
  • 30 Hour OSHA Certification
  • CHST certification or similar preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety, Safety Management, or related field preferred
