VDC Manager

  • Oversee and mentor VDC technicians to develop accurate BIM models based on project requirements to optimize project delivery.
  • Manage VDC project timelines, resources, and budgets. Track progress and ensure milestones are met in line with the overall project schedule.
  • Coordinate VDC manpower with VDC project managers to meet project deadlines.
  • Support project coordination with GEM’s Regional Offices and Rudolph Libbe Inc.
  • Estimate costs for VDC work and generate proposals for customers.
  • Develop and implement standard VDC workflows for consistency across the organization.
  • Oversee BIM database(s) build-out, standardization, and development.
  • Drive project design/detailing to capitalize on prefabrication opportunities.
  • Use AutoCAD, Revit, and other CAD programs to create plans, elevations, sections, and isometric drawings for installation and prefabrication.
  • Perform quality control checks on BIM models and drawings to ensure accuracy to project standards, best practices, current means and methods, and standardization.
  • Develop and implement training programs to improve team knowledge of VDC tools, BIM software (e.g., Revit, Navisworks), and other digital technologies, ensuring ongoing professional growth.
  • Manage BIM software subscriptions for users and preserve established relationships with software vendors.
  • Oversee the procurement and usage of laser scanners, robotic total stations, 360 imaging, and other construction technology to improve VDC and field operations.
  • Promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement in design processes and workflows.

 

SKILLS:

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams
  • Strong proficiency in BIM software (e.g. AutoCAD Plant3D, Revit, Navisworks, etc)
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • A commitment to associate development and the ability to create learning and growth opportunities for VDC team members.
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office suite – Excel, Outlook, Word

 

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 5 years of design/BIM experience
  • 4-year engineering degree or completion of pipefitter apprenticeship
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a leadership or management role
