The Area Office on Aging is dedicated to helping older adults and people with disabilities remain happy, healthy, and at home in the ten counties we serve in Northwestern Ohio (Defiance, Erie, Fulton, Henry, Lucas, Ottawa, Paulding, Sandusky, Williams, and Wood counties).
AOoA and its network of 180 providers serve more than 40,000 older residents every year through programs that include:
- Assisted Living Waiver Program
- Family Caregiver Support Program
- Grandparents and Relatives Raising Children Program
- Senior Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program
At the Area Office on Aging, we believe all people regardless of their age should be setup for success with living better and longer. Our desires and dreams to live a better and longer life don’t stop when we have our 60th birthday. Our organization helps individuals achieve their dreams of living better and longer. Instead of being an organization that just focuses on the aged (i.e., those who are “old”), this is an organization that intentionally focuses on “aging” as a process that we are all doing from the beginning of our lives. There are steps we can all take now to set our future selves up for success, living better and longer. Aging is cool … everybody is doing it. We can help individuals do it better and longer
As a thought leader and champion in the community and beyond, the Area Office on Aging is positioning itself and the field of aging as being relevant, not just to a small segment of the “older” population and the small number of organizations whose missions are specifically focused on that population, but being relevant to everybody and every organization. This approach of re-imagining aging and elevating the way aging is viewed will result in fully realizing the organization’s growth and impact potential and successfully achieving its mission.
